New crossover event between Rocket League and Ratchet & Clank

Although a collaboration between Ratchet Clank and Rocket League is a bit unexpected, the two games do have some elements in common. Both games feature fast-paced action with a sci-fi aesthetic, so Insomniac Games' beloved duo should fit in seamlessly with Psyonix's Rocket League.
Ratchet Clank is a cartoonish platformer series developed by Insomniac Games that has been a staple of Sony's lineup of PlayStation exclusives since the series' inception in 2002. Psyonix's vehicular soccer spectacle Rocket League is a relatively new title in comparison, but it is widely regarded as one of the best free-to-play games in the industry.
The enduring popularity of Ratchet Clank has resulted in a number of crossovers with other popular games over the years. The most recent installment in the franchise, Ratchet Clank: Rift Apart, contains numerous cartoony allusions to various video game and film franchises. Some of Rift Apart's Easter eggs contain references to other Sony-owned properties, such as LittleBigPlanet and Knack. On the other hand, a slew of Ratchet Clank content has recently made its way into another popular game: the indie competitive platformer Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. A recent rocket league season 4 in Fall Guys introduced Ratchet Clank-themed items, such as themed skins and challenges.
Rocket League and Ratchet Clank developer Psyonix has announced a new crossover event between the two games. The upcoming update, which will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 18, will allow players to claim a free Ratchet Clank bundle when they log into the game. The bundle will include a Ratchet Clank decal, a Negatron Collider Boost, and two balloon toppers featuring the lovable platformer protagonists. The August 18 update will also bring a new Performance Mode to Rocket League on PlayStation 5, which will allow players to experience the game at a frame rate of 120 frames per second. Quality mode, on the other hand, allows the game to run at a 4K resolution.
While Ratchet Clank is well-known for its cross-over references and Easter eggs, Rocket League is no stranger to teaming up with other developers. With the addition of James Bond's iconic Aston Martin to the rocket-powered soccer simulator, fans will be able to boost around like 007. The iconic movie vehicle is complete with original engine sounds, custom decals, and authentically designed wheels. The addition of the Aston Martin came with a tease that more cars from the James Bond franchise would be making their way into Rocket League in the future.
PlayStation players can look forward to hopping into a rocket racer decked out in Ratchet Clank decals when the Rocket League crossover debuts on August 18. New Ratchet Clank cosmetic items have been added to Rocket League on PlayStation consoles, and they are available for free.
